I already have a propeller inspection machine. Why should I add TrueProp?

TrueProp adds value to any inspection process, from manual equipment built in-house to commercial scanning devices. It has a modern Windows interface, evaluates blades with proprietary mathematics, and produces professional reports for your customers. TrueProp exposes out-of-tolerance areas, reduces manual effort, increases shop efficiency, and improves your bottom line.

Is TrueProp easy to learn and use?

Absolutely. You will find a quick learning curve with TrueProp’s modern Windows interface and easy-to-understand layout that guides you through a propeller inspection from setup to reports.

Can I use our existing pitch measurement system? 

Yes. TrueProp can support your propeller inspection process regardless of the device: from manual recording with a traditional drop-rod pitchometer to a fully connected digital measurement system. You can use TrueProp to help grow your business with existing equipment, and you decide when it is time to upgrade your measurement device to take advantage of a digital connection with TrueProp.

How is data acquired for TrueProp?

TrueProp offers a broad range of data acquisition possibilities. Propeller blade data can be acquired via the following:
  • With a commercial propeller inspection product
  • A custom data connection module that we develop for your device (contact us for details)
  • Keyboard entry (when using a manual pitchometer)

I am using an old computer to run my measurement device. Do I need to keep this computer for TrueProp? 

That will depend on how you are using TrueProp. As contemporary Windows software, it will run on any recent version of Windows (such as Windows 7, 8.1, or 10). If you are not directly connecting your measurement device to TrueProp (and plan to transfer data files), then it may be necessary to keep your existing computer and device software to generate the data. However, if you are using a compatible data acquisition system, then you would be able to run TrueProp on any new Windows computer and discard the old computer and software.

Does TrueProp Software sell inspection devices?

No. Our focus is on developing the best software for propeller inspection, regardless of device. We have no commercial interest in any device.

Can I install my TrueProp license on multiple computers as a back-up?

No. Your purchased TrueProp license allows it to be run on only one computer. If that computer dies, there are procedures to transfer the license to another computer so you can be up and running quickly.

Does my computer need an internet connection?

No, but having an internet connection simplifies program installation and license management. Each active TrueProp license is matched to one computer. To insure license compliance, TrueProp periodically checks the license online - which is the simplest and easiest configuration to manage. However, if your computer is not attached to the network, there is a manual activation process that can connect the license to the computer. This requires internet connection from another computer, and copy/paste of license data between these computer, such as with a USB flash drive. Yearly manual re-activation may be required, and the process for transferring a license to another computer requires payment of an administrative upgrade fee and a manual re-activation process.

Can TrueProp help with propeller sizing?

TrueProp can tell when the repair job is right, but not whether the repair is right for the job. Propeller sizings can be tricky, so the makers of TrueProp recommend HydroComp PropExpert​ to address propeller sizing needs. Why use a propeller sizing program? Ask Bob.
